If I were a hotel, I would want to be Atlantis The Royal. Polished, confident, and effortlessly stylish, with just enough gold to remind everyone that I never do things in halves. This isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a full-blown experience in luxury, theatrics, and jaw-dropping design.

From the moment I arrived, I felt like I’d stepped directly into the glossy pages of a luxury travel magazine. The welcome was warm and genuinely thoughtful. The service felt personal without being overbearing, like Mary Poppins with a clipboard and a headset. It’s the kind of place where you feel profoundly looked after without ever having to ask for a thing. Somehow, they just know.
I stayed in the Sea View Seascape King Room, which is technically one of the standard options. But honestly, if this is the baseline, I’m terrified (and deeply curious) about what the top-tier suites must be like. The room was spacious, modern, and bathed in sunlight, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering uninterrupted views of the Arabian Gulf. It felt more like a luxury apartment than a hotel room.

And the bathroom? Let’s talk about the bathroom. Not only was it the size of most London studios, but even the toothbrush, razor, and comb were gold. Yes, gold. Not that I needed to shave or detangle anything; I was too busy swanning about in a plush robe, simply living my best life.
Around every corner, Atlantis The Royal flexes its signature style: big, beautiful, and unapologetically extra. There isn’t just one pool; there are several. Rooftop pools, infinity pools, beachside pools—you name it. Each one is more stunning than the last, with loungers you melt into and drinks that magically appear just when you start to think, “A frozen daiquiri would be nice right about now.”

The beach is private and pristine, with powdery sand and crystal-clear water, perfect for a lazy morning or a glamorous sunset snap. And if you’re more into browsing than bathing, the hotel doubles as a modern art gallery and a high-end shopping destination. One minute you’re admiring a sculpture, the next you’re eyeing up a handbag with a price tag that says “aspirational.”
Dining is where things get really difficult because now, with the opening of Carbone, your hardest decision becomes which world-class cuisine it will be tonight. Italian classics with a New York twist? Pan-Asian perfection? Elevated Middle Eastern flavors? Breakfast was already hard enough, with pastries, waffles, fresh fruit, and someone offering to make you a perfect omelette. Dinner is a dilemma of the most delicious kind.

What really stands out, though, is how Atlantis The Royal makes you feel. Every detail is considered, every corner stunning, and everyone, from the concierge to the beach staff, makes you feel like you belong. It’s lavish without being stiff, and grand without ever feeling cold. Somehow, amidst the marble and sparkle, there’s a genuine warmth.
Would I go back? Without a doubt. Atlantis The Royal didn’t just give me a holiday; it gave me a golden toothbrush, six pool options, spa treatments, and a new appreciation for the fine art of what-to-eat-next.
