Moroccan Splendor: A Stunning End To London Fashion Week Aw25

WRITTEN BY REMI JAMES

Anyone who knows me knows that I fell in love with Morocco ten years ago during my first visit to Marrakech. Since then, I’ve explored nearly every corner of this breathtaking country, from Agadir, Fez, Essaouira, Casablanca, Taghazout, Rabat, Tangier, Tetouan, and Meknes. The vibrant fashion, rich culture, and exquisite cuisine of Morocco have captivated me ever since.

So, I couldn’t wait to attend my final London Fashion Week show on the 24th of February, AW25, where Morocco brought a truly unique, impactful presence to the capital, welcoming 500 guests to a spectacular fashion show. Morocco Kingdom of Light proudly presented two exceptional designers, Maison Sara Chraibi and Maison ARTC, each offering a distinct vision that blended heritage, innovation, and unparalleled craftsmanship. These designers were given the opportunity to showcase their breathtaking designs on the catwalk, leaving the fashion world in awe.

Invited by the British Fashion Council as part of the LFW Guest International Designers category, their highly anticipated collections captured global attention, setting a new standard for Moroccan fashion and couture.

Sara Chraibi unveiled her Haute Couture collection, “THE HEAVENS,” which demonstrated her intricate embroidery skills and clean lines, inspired by her background in architecture. Chraibi’s designs are known for fusing traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with modern elegance, particularly her use of intricate techniques like sfifa weaving—a technique renowned for its delicate texture and cultural significance. This collection emphasized structure while seamlessly blending multiple cultures and her own rich heritage. It is in these details—like the handwoven sfifa accents—that Sara celebrates the marriage of Moroccan tradition and innovation. Proudly showcasing her North African and Mediterranean vision, Sara Chraibi aims to create fashion that celebrates femininity, the beauty of creation, and the freedom of movement and apparel.

Maison ARTC, a culture house based in Marrakech, presented their collection “COMING HOME,” a celebration of culture and a reflection on the experiences of Moroccans in the diaspora. Blending cherished memories with the cultural influences of their new surroundings, Artsi Ifrach expressed the deep emotional connection that keeps the Moroccan heritage alive and rooted. “COMING HOME” is a love letter to Morocco, a cultural journey told through fashion.

Crafted in Marrakech, each piece in the collection was meticulously designed using vintage antique garments and fabrics, giving them a new  lease on life through the creative process. Using vibrant silks, tulle, and printed cotton, Maison ARTC carefully honored tradition while embracing contemporary expression. Each of the collection’s 20 looks is a one-of-a-kind, bespoke piece reimagined for today’s world.

Both Sara Chraibi and Maison ARTC exemplified the richness of Moroccan culture through their collections, making a lasting impact on London Fashion Week while showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and dedication to heritage that define their work. For those of us fortunate enough to witness this special moment, it was a celebration of not only fashion but also the enduring legacy of Morocco’s rich traditions, brought to life in new and innovative ways.
