SWISS has announced the launch of a new direct flight route between Zurich and Seoul, marking a significant expansion in its network and enhancing connectivity between Switzerland and South Korea. The inaugural flight took off in May 2024, aiming to strengthen business ties, boost tourism, and provide greater convenience for travelers between the two countries.

A Swiss Fan’s Dream Come True
As someone who has visited Seoul several times and being from Switzerland, I can personally attest to the excitement and potential this new route holds. Seoul is a vibrant city that perfectly blends traditional culture with modern innovation–think ancient palaces right next to skyscrapers. The convenience of a direct flight from Zurich makes it even more accessible. This addition by SWISS is a game-changer for anyone wanting to explore, binge on kimchi, or conduct business in this dynamic part of the world. Plus, it means you can dive into Seoul’s busy streets and K-pop concerts without the hassle of layovers.
A Strategic Expansion
The introduction of the Zurich-Seoul route comes as part of SWISS’s strategic efforts to expand its presence in Asia and cater to the increasing demand for travel between Europe and East Asia. Seoul, as a bustling metropolis and a major economic hub, presents vast opportunities for both business and leisure travelers. By adding Seoul to its roster of destinations, SWISS is positioning itself to capitalize on these opportunities and provide its passengers with more travel options.

Boosting Business and Tourism
This new route is expected to significantly benefit both the Swiss and South Korean economies. For business travelers, the direct flight facilitates easier access to meetings, conferences, and corporate events, fostering stronger business relations and encouraging investments. Seoul is home to numerous multinational corporations and tech giants, making it a key destination for Swiss business professionals and entrepreneurs.
On the tourism front, the direct flight is set to boost the number of visitors between the two countries. Switzerland, with its majestic Alps, pristine lakes and picturesque villages is a highly attractive destination for South Korean tourists. Conversely, South Korea’s rich history, cutting-edge modern architecture, vibrant culture scene, and delectable cuisine are key reasons why Swiss travelers are drawn to Seoul.
Commitment to Sustainability
In line with its commitment to sustainability, SWISS is implementing measures to minimize the environmental impact of its operations. The Airbus A340-300 used for the Zurich-Seoul route is part of a modern and fuel-efficient fleet designed to reduce carbon emissions.

Looking Ahead
The launch of the Zurich-Seoul route is a testament to SWISS’s forward-thinking approach in the post-pandemic aviation landscape. By expanding its network and enhancing connectivity, SWISS is not only meeting the current travel demand but also laying the groundwork for future growth.
