Taylor Swift Shakes Zurich

Swiss media kept referring to Taylor Swift’s concert as an “earthquake in Zurich,” and for good reason. Her performance literally caused the ground to shake, a testament to the immense energy and turnout she commands. In today’s music landscape, few can boast of such a seismic impact—unless you count actual earthquakes.

There was no need to hype up “Swifterland” because tickets sold out faster than you can say “Shake It Off.” In just 30 minutes, both her concerts on the 9th and 10th of July at the Letzigrund stadium were sold out. Swifties clearly have quicker reflexes than most of us trying to hit the snooze button in the morning.

Even our local celebs were present. One of our seven Swiss Federal Council members attended with his daughter, earning some street cred—until he admitted he wasn’t a “real” fan like she was. Talk about a “Bad Blood” moment! Thankfully, our interna-tional tennis icon and his family were there too, providing plenty of people-watching opportunities.

Fan or not, her songs are undeniably catchy, and it’s easy to see why she draws fans from as far away as the United States to one of the most expensive cities in the world. Who wouldn’t want to spend their life savings for a chance to scream along to “Love Story” in Zurich? Plus, it’s not every day you get to justify your travel expenses with, “But Taylor Swift!”

The local economy was thrilled. All the hotels in Zurich and its surroundings were fully booked. Swifties not only show unwa-vering loyalty to their singer, but they also contribute significantly to driving tourism and boosting local businesses.

In the end, Taylor Swift didn’t just shake Zurich—she gave the whole city two nights to remember.
